The 8th Transportation Research (Shanghai) Forum of CIMC Vehicles was held at Jiangsu University in Zhenjiang on November 3, 2018, and it was the first time that the forum was held outside Shanghai. This forum was named by CIMC Vehicles, sponsored by the Transportation Research (Shanghai) Forum, organized by Jiangsu University, and co-organized by the Jiangsu Provincial Comprehensive Transportation Society and the Society of Automotive Engineering of Jiangsu.
Themed "Smart Transportation Driven by Vehicle-Road Integration Data," the forum attracted more than 300 representatives from 54 universities, more than 20 enterprises and academic organizations in the industry.
Professor Yuan Shouqi, Party Secretary of Jiangsu University, Jiang Licheng, Executive Vice President of Jiangsu Provincial Comprehensive Transportation Society, and Professor Han Yin, Rotating Chairman of Transportation Research (Shanghai) Forum, attended the opening ceremony and delivered speeches, respectively. The opening ceremony was presided over by Chen Long, Executive Chairman of the 8th Transportation Research (Shanghai) Forum, Vice President of China Society of Automotive Engineers, and professor of Jiangsu University.
The forum invited Professor Zhao Xiangmo, member of the Transportation Discipline Review Group of the State Council Academic Degrees Committee and Vice President of Chang'an University; Yan Xinping, member of the Transportation Discipline Review Group of the State Council Academic Degrees Committee and professor of Wuhan University of Technology; Gao Xiang, Deputy Director of the Department of Science and Technology of the Ministry of Transport; Dr. Gong Jinfeng, professor-level senior engineer of China Automotive Technology and Research Center; Dr. Su Yuelong, professor-level senior engineer of AutoNavi Software Co., Ltd.; and Dr. Derek Li, Technical Director of CIMC Vehicles (Group) Co., Ltd. They delivered wonderful keynote speeches from such perspectives as the intelligent connectivity transportation system (ICTS), intelligent new energy ships, traffic and transportation network security, intelligent connectivity vehicle R&D system capacity building, space-time Big Data with human and land attributes, and road transport semi-trailer connectivity, respectively.
The forum highlighted four sub-forums, including Internet of Vehicles and Autonomous Driving Technology, Transport Policy and Planning, Transport Safety and Driving Behavior, and Port and Shipping Transport and Logistics. More than 40 experts from universities and enterprises made academic exchange reports, respectively.
The forum focused on hot issues such as the interaction and integration of vehicles, roads and data in the intelligent connectivity transportation system, and discussed the transformation and impact brought by the rapid development of information technology, network technology and artificial intelligence technology to the transport system. The success of the forum strengthened the industry-university-research connection in the field of transportation. It was conducive to improving the strength of the transportation discipline, the quality of personnel training and the ability of independent industrial innovation in China, and had a positive and far-reaching significance for promoting the building and improvement of the discipline of transportation engineering in our university.
